
About Me
Crystal Hu is a filmmaker, composer, writer, and visual artist from Boston. Her work is distinguished by a highly personal aesthetic and guided by an auteur filmmaking philosophy. Drawing on unconventional narrative forms, Hu emphasizes atmosphere, ambiguity, and metaphor, creating space for audience interpretation while seeking to convey profound philosophical ideas.
Hu's work has received the Silver Award for Best Student Director at the Best Actor & Director Awards in New York and the Best Female Director and Best Art Video at SFAAF in Chile. She holds an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.S. in Journalism with a Documentary Specialization from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and is a Phi Beta Kappa member.
